Expert Analysis
Alin Edouard | Prep Redzone Scout
Woolen is an athletic, high-upside two-way talent who can impact the game on both sides of the ball. With the ball in his hands, he looks explosive and natural — he’s smooth in open space, accelerates quickly, and has the vision to turn small openings into big gains. He’s the type of athlete who doesn’t hesitate; once he sees daylight, he’s immediately attacking it.
What really separates him is his versatility. On offense, he brings that playmaking ability, but on defense as a DB, he shows the tools you want — length, fluid movement, and the ability to mirror receivers. He can run with speed downfield, break on routes, and compete at the catch point with confidence.

Wooten put together an outstanding sophomore season, emerging as one of Central Texas’ most dynamic playmakers. He can line up at receiver, impact the game as a kick returner, and make plays on special teams. A big-bodied target with sure hands and breakaway speed, the Shoemaker standout made his presence felt in Houston with Juice 7v7 on both sides of the ball. Wooten is an elite talent whose trajectory is clearly pointing up.

Tano is a gadget-type player on offense for the Greywolves with stellar burst and elusiveness. Wooten possesses a dynamic combination of size and acceleration. These traits produce a versatile playmaker that can take the top off the defense and reel in deep balls or carry the ball from the backfield, making defenders miss with explosive cuts. He’s got elite speed on all levels, along with great pad level and little wasted movement. Tano showed flashes of being an elite offensive weapon as a freshman, and I expect that trend to continue into this season. Wooten should take a massive leap this year and build upon an offer list that already includes Washington and Arizona State.

Tano is a big bodied, big play receiver. He showed out this weekend making high-point catches, snatching the ball in traffic and just, straight up, running past defenders on go routes. A very exciting young man to watch this upcoming freshman season.

-A prospect I’ve been high on since I first saw him in sixth-grade and never disappoints in both game or camp settings
-Checks all the boxes as a big time class of 2028 prospect (current seventh-grader) because he’s an Athlete that can play a number of positions with his 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame and 5.03 time in the forty
-Has quickly established himself as one of the kids to know in the greater Austin area. He runs physically and can both lower his shoulder to finish off a run and/or stiff arm guys who try to tackle him too high. Out of any 2028 prospect I’ve seen thus far, his development and growth is one of the most I’m interested in watching

Every time I see him, or get reports back on him, Wooten impresses me more and more. Measured very well at a verified 5-foot-10 and 158-pounds, making him a very large seventh-grade skill player. Came to camp as a Running Back but I’m not sure that’s where he plays long term. He has a tremendous frame to build upon and was clocked at a 5.03 in the forty and an 8.04 in the L-drill, showing off quickness and body control.

The Athlete position is truly the best one to describe Wooten and where he plays on the football field. The Killeen native lines up all over the field for the Central Texas Grey Wolves, including Wide Receiver, Running Back, Linebacker, Safety and basically anywhere else he’s asked to. At 5-foot-10 and 160-pounds with a good build, there isn’t much he can’t accomplish on the football field at this level. Plays with a lot of aggression which leads me to believe Outside Linebacker could be the ultimate landing spot for Wooten, but there’s a long way to go.
