this season. Chism comes into this year as an experienced quarterback that will be one of the better dual-threat athletes at the position in Class 4A. Chism is just as dangerous on the ground as he is as a passer. And the Eagles aren’t lacking firepower at the wide receiver position so Chism could end up posting monster numbers as a passer and as a runner. Chism also plays on the defensive side of the ball as a hard-hitting safety. Simply put, he’ll be one of the better athletes in Class 4A football this season and if healthy, he should have a big year.

ended up leading the pack and it was his consistency from start to finish that earned him the nod. We got a chance to watch Chism in person last fall and walked away impressed with his ability to tuck the ball and run and overall physicality. He wasn’t able to use that on Saturday and just had to rely on his arm and throwing ability to get noticed. So we were pleasantly surprised by his passing on Saturday from start to finish and it was his arm that stole the show. Combine that with that physical play and he’s a name to watch.

at the quarterback position. He’s a strong and physical quarterback that feels like he’s at his best when he’s tucking the ball and running. He helped carry the Eagles to a big win earlier this season over 5A’s El Reno. And maybe we should have known about Chism prior to this season beginning. He’s just one part of a set of triplets at Weatherford that are incredibly talented. His brother Steele is a starting linebacker and his sister Harlie is a softball star that just committed to Florida State. The schedule is going to start heating up this week. They have their annual rivalry game with perennial power Clinton on Friday night. If Chism can help lead the Eagles to another win over Clinton, they’ll control their destiny in the district.

He ran for four touchdowns on the night but the final touchdown was the most important as he ran it in with just under 30 seconds to play to clinch the 28-26 victory on Friday night. Chism and the Eagles now shift their focus to another 5A ranked team. Elgin comes to town on Friday and they’ll provide the toughest test yet this season.
