led the way in the comeback and put the Comets over the top. He threw for 133 yards and three touchdowns and he also added 111 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Claremore went up by two scores in the fourth quarter but it was Smith that immediately responded in the win.Access all of Prep Redzone

and the Comets have a solid path to make some noise in the playoffs as a district champion. Smith led Bishop Kelley to the district championship when they beat Claremore in week eight in dramatic fashion. Smith was fantastic at the quarterback position and was a threat with his arm and his legs. And the thing that impressed us the most about his performance that night was he shined brightest when the team needed him to do so. Smith is an underrated dual-threat quarterback in the state’s 2024 class to keep an eye on.

following Bishop Kelley’s 42-41 win over Claremore. Smith and the Comets handed the Zebras their first loss of the season and they rallied from a 41-28 fourth quarter deficit to get the win. Just like Sperry at Carl Albert, it felt like Smith put the Superman cape on at times to make sure the Comets wouldn’t fall short on Friday night. He finished with 133 passing yards and three touchdowns and also added 111 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. But after going down 41-28, Smith immediately led the Comets on a 3-play drive and scored his second rushing touchdown of the night to make sure the Comets wouldn’t go anywhere. Smith impressed from start to finish.

has played but we’ll go out on a limb and say Friday night’s performance was right there near the top for him. Smith finished the game with 133 passing yards and three touchdowns and also added 111 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. And when the Comets went down 41-28, Smith immediately brought them down the field for a touchdown in three plays. He ran for 19 yards, then fired an absolute dart for 11 yards, then scored on a 24-yard touchdown and within 90 seconds, the Comets were right back in the mix. We’ve seen the numbers Smith has put up this season and have been impressed but when you combine the numbers with the clutch performance, you have a dangerous player to watch.

this fall. Smith started for the Comets as a cornerback during his sophomore season and then moved over to quarterback to lead the Bishop Kelley offense last fall. With a strong offensive line in front of him, we expect Smith to lead a balanced Comet attack on the offensive side of the ball. The Comets are very excited to see how much of an impact Smith can have within their offense this fall. He’s going to have guys to get the ball to at wide receiver but he’s also the fastest player on the team. So when he needs to tuck the ball and run, he’s going to give defenses fits trying to gameplan for him.
