and while the Pirates are going to be throwing the ball more in 2025, they’re not completely abandoning the run altogether. And when you have a running back like Perry returning, it would make a ton of sense to keep feeding the workhorse of the Poteau offense. Perry enjoyed a breakout season in 2023 and he continued that momentum last fall. But now, he can actually take his game to new heights. Defenses are going to have to worry about defending the pass and that could make his job easier.

was one of them. During his sophomore season, Perry emerged as one of the top guys for Poteau in their running game and he would actually lead the team in carries. He finished his breakout season with over 700 yards and nine touchdowns and he’s just getting started. He also saw playing time as a freshman and now that the other two 700+ yard rushers graduated, that frees up more carries for Perry, who looks like could be on the verge of a monster year.
