His 18/196/3 are 2nd best on the team in terms of returning production out wide. Sonny brings mismatch size with his big frame and wingspan. His size creates his advantage and how he is able to box out defenders and high point the football off the top shelf. The ’28 WR/TE even demonstrated the ability to contort his body to secure catches. The ’28 also returns his team’s QB1, so we should see a perfect storm for him to breakout on varsity this season.

The WR/TE enters the year with the chance to step into the role left by another huge-bodied target out wide. Sonny fits the role so well. A 6’3″ 210 lbs frame who uses it all to provide a huge catch radius. A catch radius that wouldn’t be possible without his strong hands, ball skills, and body control to be able to find ways to get his hands on the football. The big man has proven to be too strong for DBs after the catch too. The big, physical mismatch has a chance to earn valuable reps on varsity this season and prove the talent he has to offer.

Rankings Rise: 43 -> 30

I have become a big fan of Sonny’s in less than a year since these rankings debuted. The more I watched his 2024 highlights and watched his most recent scrimmage clips the more I have been impressed by all he has to offer. That is what led to the rise in the rankings. He has a great frame for the TE/WR hybrid role and does a really good job of using it to shield the ball from defenders as it drops into his hands. Sonny has shown he can be utilized to attack every level of the field. He is a smooth route runner, especially for his size and age. When he goes vertical the rising 2028 does a great job of finding the ball and positioning himself to be able to go up and get it over the DB and through traffic. The big frame, strong hands, ball skills, and ability to create space are already strong pillars of his game.

Projection: Highly ranked in state

Another multi-sport athlete that looks like he’ll soon be making a splash on the high school level as a Wide Receiver. Young is a long, natural pass-catcher who does a great job of catching the ball with his hands, away from his body. Has a busy June planned, as he is expected to camp at Wisconsin, Louisville, Kent State and Miami.
