Sam is still one of my top QBs of this class. He has the size, athleticism and football IQ to play high level college football. He is a good decision maker, something that he struggled with early in the game, but as he settled in he looked much more comfortable. He still has a big arm and is able to gun it down field. He used his legs a number of times, extending the play or just moving within the pocket. While it wasn’t the best game I have seen him play in my number of times seeing him, it was still a good performance. If this is the floor for Sam, I feel very good about his ceiling!

I have said it for some time now, that Sam is one of the best QBs in this class. His performances in the 2 games I watched last season solidified that for me, including a run to a state title. He has the size, he has the arm and has the intangibles to be a superb pickup for whoever snags him at the next level. Stowe has no issue flinging it downfield with ease, and his accuracy on short and intermediate routes is extremely impressive. He can manipulate the pocket to buy extra time or escape altogether to pick up first downs. He reads the field well, throws with confidence and is dead on the money more often than not. His stock has continued to rise throughout this offseason, and

Shout-out to Sam for attending another MHSAA Eval camp! I was able to catch a few more reps, and largely had the same takeaway as I did with the DeWitt camp. Anything within 10 yards was a dot, especially over the middle of the field. A few good-looking depp balls, too.

At this point, my evaluation of Sam is pretty set. I like his GLIAC upside.

It was good seeing Sam today! All in all, Sam was the best QB at this year’s DeWitt camp. Just like on tape, Sam was slinging the ball to the short-intermediate areas of the field with excellent accuracy and velocity. Such fast velocity that most receivers present had a very difficult time catching. Sam also had a number of good deep balls, but those were a lot more inconsistent than everything within 20 yards.

Elite size, great throw power, good all-around accuracy. Still a GLIAC prospect in my view.

One of the most intriguing QBs to watch this offseason. Sam has only started for one season, but he led ND Prep to a dominant state championship run. I also received weekly stats from ND Prep, and Sam performed very well week by week. Plus, it helps that he’s 6’4″ 200- that could push him up the boards. Honestly, it pushed him up my board a litte.

I like Sam’s tape. I like it quite a bit. First off, this is a pure pro-style passer. One of those QBs who can run if absolutely necessary, but most of the time, he’s chilling in the pocket.

The vast majority of his highlights are quick throws to his first read. These throws can be screens, fades, crossers over the middle of the field, etc. Sam has a great variety on tape, except comebacks.

Watch the play at 2:11. He sits in the pocket for a long 3.5 seconds, keeps his eyes on his read, and fires the ball over two defenders. Not many High Schools QBs can confidently throw the ball over the middle of the field like that. The throw was a tad behind his receiver, but still a throw I’m quite impressed by. 0:36 is another good throw. Sees the safety playing a little too shallow, and fires a perfect ball just over the safety to his receiver.
Sam is one of the most accurate QBs in the class, and he’s one of the best when it comes to measurables. I only have a few nitpciks- one being that he’s almost always throwing to his first read, and his eyes rarely come off that read. Another is that he tends to throw slightly behind crossers. I feel that his size, insticts, ability to stand strong in the pocket, and accuracy make for a GLAIC prospect at the very least. We’ll see what the college coaches think about Sam in the coming months, but I have a good feeling that he’ll find success.

In his first season starting for Notre Dame Prep, Sam Stowe Sam Stowe Sam Stowe 6'4" | 200 lbs | QB Notre Dame Prep | 2026 State MI piloted his team to a 12-1 record and a convincing win over a solid Frankenmuth squad in the D5 state title game.

Stowe has the elite size right off the bat. He stands tall in the pocket and scans the field well, and has the arm strength to fire it in tight windows with good velocity. When I got the chance to see him in person last season in a playoff game against Armada, he was also able to deal some damage with his legs. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him start to roll in offers soon.

Sam is currently a major sleeper, but he’s way more likely than some of these other guys to earn offers this Spring. Here’s a quick rundown of how I evaluate Sam.

  • Far above-average accuracy
  • Zero major weaknesses
  • Gets ball out quickly
  • Won State Championship in first year starting
  • Ideal height
  • Very respectful; seems like a great locker room guy
  • High ceiling considering what he accomplished in his first ever season starting at QB

Shockingly, a first-year starter for a small school team has a fringe D2 grade. Now, I’m not incredibly confident in my evaluation since I haven’t seen him compete in the offseason yet, but I have seen him play two games in person.

Arm Talent: C
Accuracy: B
Processing: C
Playmaking: C-
Athleticism: C-
Mechanics: C+

Accuracy is the area I’m most impressed with. Sam is consistent, accurate, and hits his receivers in stride at every area of the field. In his games against Grand Rapids Catholic Central and Frankenmuth, I don’t think I saw him throw a single inaccurate ball. In that game against Frankenmuth (state championship), Sam went 15-21 with 293 yards, 4TDs, and 0INTs.

The big question comes with his processing. My grade is mostly based on a gut feeling- he could blow people out of the water this offseason. We just don’t know yet.

Right now, I’d say Sam is 50/50 on being a D2 prospect. Great size, great season, great accuracy, but unproven in the offseason.

Both of the instances I got to see Sam, he was lights out. He stands in the pocket with great poise and confidence, delivers the ball accurately and with the perfect amount of zip and touch that is hard to get consistently. He was absolutely one of the most impressive QBs I got to see this season and I am definitely looking forward to what he has in store next season!

In close games, QB play is often very important. Especially with a D5 team that passes the football a lot, it’s important that Sam plays a good game.

When I watched him mid-season against GR Catholic Central, he played lights-out. Sam consistently got the ball out very quickly, made a few plays off-schedule. He was also pretty dang accurate and when he wasn’t accurate, he was always overthrowing the ball rather than underthrowing it.

I expect Frankenmuth to try to pressure Sam. I’m excited to see how he responds to the difficult defense!
