About Ryder
Expert Analysis
Andy Pham | Prep Redzone Scout
Ryder does a good job from the pocket in surveying the field. He’s a signal caller who is quick and can buy additional time in the pocket. He does well on the move and throwing on the run. The system doesn’t ask him to do boots and roll outs, but it would be an effective part of his game. He is a decisive passer when pressure is coming in his face, and when given time, will go through to his second read and deeper developing routes and take shots. He does well at taking what the defenses give him, and that adaptability makes him a signal caller who can adjust on the fly and isn’t locked in on just one style of play. That duality will help Salem Hills later in the season, and when they hit the postseason, and the game is shortened.

Hales has done a great job of elevating his team and the offense as a whole. He processes at a good rate, will get to his second read and does well at placing the ball to only where his receiver can come down with it. Keeping the ball out of danger and keeping the offense ahead of the chains has been his best traits as the leader of the offense. He doesn’t lock in to just one receiver and will find the open target and deliver it. He does a good job of stressing the defense by taking deep shots, and with the secondary on their heels, he can then take shorter throws and allow his receivers to create after the catch. He’s done a fantastic job this season and operating within structure.

Hales comes in as the 224th-ranked prospect, and he could absolutely smash that as he’s set up to take over as the signal caller for Salem Hills, and the dual-threat quarterback has all the tools to climb well within the top 100 prospects. It will be a big year for the gunslinger who isn’t afraid to showcase his big arm and extend plays with his legs to bide time for his receivers to get open. Hales has every right to be a riser and get looked at regionally in recruiting.
