Being a 2-year starter for the State Champion Knights, Lucas has continued to develop into a dangerous possession-type receiver. He averaged 7.5 ypc and caught 37 passes for 338 yards and 3 touchdowns. Lucas has gotten quicker and stronger since last year, and that trend looks to continue. He has the ability to play RB, FB, TE, and WR, and possesses a solid grasp of the offense, as well as the ability to modify routes to take advantage of what the defense is giving him. As his blocking improves with reps, the Kuemper offense will continue to be dangerous for the next couple of years.

Kuemper Catholic’s Ryan Lucas Ryan Lucas 6'0" | 205 lbs | ATH/LB Kuemper Catholic | 2028 State IA is a rising player who could see himself jump into the rankings as he continues to produce this season. Through four games, Lucas has hauled in 15 receptions for 140 yards and three touchdowns while making an impact deeper than the statsheet goes. On offense, Ryan plays a versatile H-back role, where he can serve as a pass-catching target or an asset as a blocker in the run game. What stood out to me about Ryan’s play was his ability to turn upfield and tack on additional yardage on top of the catch. At 6’0″ 210 pounds, Ryan is a handful to bring down, so he’s able to stay upright as he fights through weak tackle attempts. Tough, physical, and good hands at the catch point. Lucas also has potential at linebacker, where he has nine tackles. Budding prospect from a proven program!

Lucas made the most of his opportunities operating as a freshman on the Kuemper varsity in 2024. He rushed 16 times for 88 yards and a touchdown, and caught 12 passes for 105 yards. On defense, Lucas registered 10.5 tackles (7 solo). The experience should help propel him into larger contributions this coming season. Lucas shows that potential during his ninth-grade highlight video. Physicality already is a big part of his game, which bodes well for the future. He embraces contact. With a good feel for flow as a running back and the ability to run crisp routes, Lucas is a tough matchup on offense. He’s disciplined within the defensive scheme and plays all out on special teams. Lucas is an excellent pick to break out in 2025.
