Boyle is an intriguing prospect, a long, lean TE who also plays some DE, who put out the first tapes of his career this season. Boyle is also a lacrosse player, and on tape, you see the movement skills that translate to the open field of lacrosse. Penfield used him heavily as a blocker in a run-heavy offense, so there is some projecting and even likely camp work needed to get more information on his ability to catch the ball from the TE position.
As a blocker, Boyle does a lot of things well – his lean frame has room to add some serious weight and strength for the next level but he plays with good leverage for a player at 6’5 – you see multiple alignments and different blocks on tape, he excels as a lead blocker from an H-Back position but also can be used in-line to reach block and down block lineman.
There is a lot of projection here because the film is limited, but there are some good things on tape and, of course, the 6’5 frame to build on.
