Expert Analysis
Griffin Conant | Prep Redzone Scout
A first-team All-State defensive back for the Eagles, Guthrie has transformed himself into the heart and soul of the Heritage defense. A year ago, it was Guthrie that recorded 117 tackles, 12 PBU’s, 3 INT’s, and 9 tackles for loss. Without a doubt, one look at this young man’s stat line and it is hard to not be impressed. Clearly, Guthrie is a do-it-all type of defensive back that has enough speed to play at the next level. Whether it’s staying one step ahead of the enemy thanks to exceling in play recognition or coming from his safety spot to stop the run, there is no doubt that Guthrie is going to be an exciting name to watch in 2023.

Guthrie is a physical player and he brings that in all aspects of his game. He is physical when tackling, still wrapping up when he comes and lays the hat driving the ball carrier back. Guthrie is a do it all type of player and has a presence on special teams which will grab a lot of scouts eyes. He has a lot of speed and has good coverage ability. He can cover any position on the field and looks comfortable while doing it. He does have good hands and is able to out jump receivers while he is high pointing the football. He is a player under the radar but has the talent to thrive in the right system.
