Finally got to see LeRoy-Ostrander’s playmaker Reid Hungerholt Reid Hungerholt 6'2" | 150 lbs | ATH LeRoy-Ostrander | 2027 State MN in a camp setting! The 9Man, ultra-experienced, three-phase dynamo was doing some good work in man coverage out of the slot as a safety, especially during 1v1s. Quick breaks and was reading/anticipating with effectiveness, Hungerholt was also strong and physical enough to routinely break up passing attempts against larger, strong-handed TE prospects. Hungerholt would come downhill and close well, and that aggressiveness at the catch point paid dividends.

The second of the two electric Hungerholt brothers out LeRoy–Ostrander, younger brother Reid Hungerholt is the least surprising pick for “Most Explosive” out of MN’s small school ranks, given the fact that his career stats already pile up to an absurd 4,791 all-purpose yards, 47 TDs, 100 tackles, and 11 INTs going into his senior season with the LeRoy-Ostrander/Lyle-Pacelli co-op. The Gophers’ DOR John Schaekel stopped by LeRoy-Ostrander Public School in January to see Reid, so I’m hoping we’ll see him at one of the Gophers’ prospect camps this June, and the younger Hungerholt is also a good hooper ranked on PrepHoops just outside the Top 150 in the state.
The junior highlights show straight-up small school dominance, as Hungerholt owns the speed to win while working completely East to West with the rock in-hand and is on a whole different plane of athleticism and elusiveness against 9Man competition. The stat-stuffer of the 2027 class displays game-changing speed that can go 0-60 in a blink, sees the cutback well as a ball carrier, and take a routine carry the distance at seemingly any given moment. He seems to weave and fly through traffic of pursuing defenses like he’s in a different gear of speed. Hungerholt demonstrates impressive quickness and pace out of his breaks from either his CB or SAF spot, ballhawk who can see and anticipate the timing, concepts, and breaks of passes from opposing WR and QB tandems. PRZMN is very curious how he tests this summer, which will play a large role in the division of competition he will end up in. Must-know small schooler coming into the Summer Camp SZN hot!

Even though LeRoy-Ostrander didn’t exactly play up to standard compared to previous seasons, there’s no doubt that Reid Hungerholt Reid Hungerholt 6'2" | 150 lbs | ATH LeRoy-Ostrander | 2027 State MN , who succeeded his brother Cam as the starter in 2025 is already doing a great job filling in the huge shoes left behind. Hungerholt finished with 1857 passing yards, 23 TDs, and 11 INTs while rushing for 1187 yards (5.9 YPC) and 9 TDs. Much like his older brother, Reid is elusive and dangerous as a dual-threat with plenty of speed and athleticism, and he’s shown excellent arm strength and ball placement even out of the pocket. Hungerholt will need to work on his consistency as a passer, but with proper development, there’s no telling how high his ceiling will be in 2026.

Reid Hungerholt Reid Hungerholt 6'2" | 150 lbs | ATH LeRoy-Ostrander | 2027 State MN has been the primary catalyst toward LeRoy-Ostrander’s offensive prevalence as they finished as a top-10 scoring offense in the league this season. Hungerholt provided a large sum of that offensive production, finishing with 1701 passing yards, 20 TDs, and 8 INTs while rushing for 1030 yards and 9 rushing TDs (6 YPC). Hungerholt has been so dynamic for the Cardinals with defenses consistently worrying about his ability to take off on the run or being able to sling it down the sideline with ease, and while his accuracy was hit-or-miss at times, there is no denying his playmaking ability. Hungerholt will try to build off this strong junior campaign by looking to hone his accurate ability to make him even more dangerous in the pocket.

Another very explosive athlete in the 9-man league, Reid Hungerholt Reid Hungerholt 6'2" | 150 lbs | ATH LeRoy-Ostrander | 2027 State MN ‘s game took several huge steps forward in 2024, solidifying him as one of the top multi-purpose athletes leading the class of 2027. Offensively, Hungerholt finished with 521 receiving yards on just 20 receptions and 5 touchdowns, adding 128 rushing yards on just 10 carries and 2 rushing touchdowns, and even hitting a 49 yard touchdown pass during the season. Hungerholt is a huge threat who will remain to be a key asset for this 9-man powerhouse.

Not sure what’s in the water of Minnesota’s various 9Man programs as of late, but we’ve been seeing top-tier prospects come out of Minnesota’s 9Man division at an exciting and potentially historic clip as of late. Following in the footsteps of his soon-to-be-MSU-Mankato-bound older brother Cam, 2027 standout Reid Hungerholt Reid Hungerholt 6'2" | 150 lbs | ATH LeRoy-Ostrander | 2027 State MN is carving out his own potentially record-breaking legacy at LeRoy-Ostrander High School and with the new LeRoy-Ostrander/Lyle-Pacelli co-op program. Hungerholt is a rising three-year starter who does great work on either side of the ball as a 6’2 WR and DB, but he’s also a threat as a returner with real-deal three-phase who PRzMN got to see live and inperson at U.S. Bank Stadium in the 9Man state semifinals. Hungerholt was a true WR1 who could take the top off the defense on any given vertical route, and was a natural and easy playmaker who was comfortable under the brightest lights of a high school football season. Heavy weight for a sophomore’s shoulders, but the younger Hungerholt is up for the challenge, and he posted more than 900 all-purpose yards and 10 TDs, along with 38 tackles and 6 INTs, in his sophomore season of high school football. He also passed the 1,000 point mark on the hardwood as a sophomore, and he’s coming for his brother’s all-time scoring record when it’s all said and done. Gotta love some multi-sport heroics for good measure.
The tape displays a three-phase playmaker and big-play machine with homerun speed. Hungerholt is a shifty and elusive ball carrier who can accelerate at top speed, and he’s an electric kick returner whose long legs and powerful cuts help launch him into daylight and space to make for easy TD runs with a whole team of defenders chasing him. Hungerholt is quick at the top of the route and can consistently get open and create separation as a route runner and wide receiver. He demonstrates tons of natural ball-hawking range as a MOF defender and free safety who can play the entire width of the field in pass defense, and his smooth COD ability and loose hips help him stay sticky in coverage. And with his speed, there isn’t a receiver around who can burn him deep. Tall, long, fluid and athletic sophomore who really looks like he projects well to the next level. Hope to see him at April’s PrepRedzoneMN Showcase.
