Herring has big shoes to fill at Randleman, but he was fantastic in a small sample size last year, and we’ve heard he’s looked sharp in the offseason. He has the size and arm talent, and showed himself to be plenty accurate last season. To that end, he completed 17 of 18 passes as a sophomore. He added weight this offseason, and we’re excited to see what he could do as a starter.

Herring doesn’t have much varsity starting experience after sitting behind a talented senior last year, but he has all the physical tools to be a top passer. His size and arm talent pass the eye test, and he’s accurate, completing 17 of 18 passes last season. I like his pocket movement and how the ball jumps off his hand. The question will be whether he can succeed as the full-time starter. We lean toward yes.
