Expert Analysis

Rucker is a wide receiver/tight end tweener who plays in-line mostly due to his incredible strength, but will likely be a bigger slot receiver at the next level. He’s not the biggest guy, but he’s a beast in the weight room who can beat defenses over the middle or underneath. He has a really unique athletic profile and I’m interested to see how a team uses him at the college level.

Rucker is a really unique player to scout. More of a modern H-Back than a pure tight end, he’s built like a receiver, but still plays in-line. He has excellent balance and ability after the catch and South Meck thrived by simply getting him the ball in space. It’d be easy to dismiss Rucker as a future slot receiver, but his skill set is so unique that a smart coaching staff could find a role that suits him at the college level.

I’ve written about Quinn a couple of times, and if he was 2 inches taller, I think he would have some offers right now. I think that, as a tight end, he creates mismatches because of his speed in the middle of the field. He can also flex out and play as a wide receiver in the slot and out wide. Quinn shows excellent hands, making tough catches look routine. He was the leading receiver for the Sabres last year, and it is shaping up that he should be that once again coming into his senior season. Quinn was an All-Conference selection last season.

Quinn is a hybrid player who can play both Wide Receiver and Tight End, but I’ve got him in the Tight End category for us here. Quinn had a productive season this past year with 31 receptions for 470 yards and 6 touchdowns, which was the leading receiver stats on his team. Quinn was also an All-Conference selection for the Sabres. Just as impressive is his 3.75 GPA. Operating in the middle of the field is where Quinn is impressive – he knows how to find holes in zone coverage and has enough speed to run away from linebackers and safeties in man coverage. Quinn also shows strong hands and can make contested catches in traffic. Quinn does have some recruiting interest, but no offers just yet.
