Like several other players on this breakdown, Stelling enjoyed a breakout season last fall with the Cardinals as they took their first steps to getting back to contending in Class 3A. This season, led by Stelling, we really like what Verdigris has coming back and they could end up making a lot of noise. Stelling is a very durable running back that was incredibly productive last season. And what’s scary is we think that he’s just scratching the surface on what he could be down the line. We could see a massive senior year from him this fall.

Peyton is in the class of 2027 and attends Verdigris High School. He plays running back and is a runner who runs behind his should pads on contact. In his junior season, he had 221 attempts for 1,311 rush yards with 9 touchdowns and 365 reception yards for an additional 2 touchdowns. He shows he has field vision and sees the crease, then will attack it. Peyton is a multi-purpose running back as he shows he can tote the rock and catch the ball out of the backfield.

is the most productive offensive player returning for the Cardinals this season. Last year, he was one of the bright spots for the Cardinal offense. He finished with just shy of 700 yards on the ground and six touchdowns. He had to earn those yards as well with over 160 carries. This season, we expect those carries to go up but because the Cardinals bring everybody back on the offensive line and should be improved in that area, we could see Stelling’s production go up this fall. He was also the second leading tackler on the team in 2024.
