The GI Northwest Vikings have an exciting group of versatile athletes returning in 2026, including junior LB Owen Wiese Owen Wiese 6'0" | 175 lbs | LB Northwest | 2027 State NE . Owen was everywhere on defense as he recorded 77 tackles, three TFLs, and a sack. Wiese is a smart LB with great instincts for reading his keys and a quick first step that sends him downhill when he triggers the run. He plays his gaps very well and showed that he can be physical and use his hands to disengage from blockers at the line of scrimmage. Good tackler in the open field. Owen showed that he’s not just a run defender, but can hold his own in coverage as well, with solid range to cover a good chunk of the field. He will also look to play through a pass catcher’s hands to force pass breakups. Owen was a part of the Vikings’ rushing attack last season, ending the year with 42 carries for 134 yards, so we could see him take on a bigger load on offense this fall. Sleeper prospect to keep an eye on!
