Boarman, a junior at Minneapolis Southwest, showcased length, athleticism, and superb body control during route combinations and one-on-ones. He’s long, snaps his routes, and adds wiggle when necessary. His frame helps him win vertically. He comfortably high-points over either shoulder. Owen Boarman Owen Boarman 6'4" | 175 lbs | WR/DB Minneapolis Southwest | 2027 State MN has been dynamic & productive in 2024 as a sophomore and has gotten better and better as the season went on. Boarman posted 18 receptions for 344 yards and 4 TDs, as well as 25 tackles and 4 INTs defensively, and is a promising two-way contributor with an absurd frame, a big-time, impressive catch radius, and a ton of good football left in front of him. Boarman possesses noticeable and significant length, can take the top off the defense and beat CBs vertically as a wideout, and shows smooth COD ability as a route runner and can create separation at the top of the route and out of his breaks. He owns soft hands, tracks the deep ball well, and has a big-time catch radius that can reel in all kinds of throws, misthrows, and back-shoulder passes. Boarman can climb the ladder and win 50/50 balls on top of the heads of awaiting DBs and is instinctive and reactive when the ball is in the air. Defensively, as a safety, the 165 lber. shows solid range in pass defense as a safety and can defend the sideline and MOF and pick off passes in both man and zone coverage, and does a good job of running the alley and can pursue to the sideline in run defense. Good tackler in 1v1 settings and in space, and displays solid hips and eye discipline. The size, growth potential, playmaking ability, versatility, and athleticism make me excited for this young Lakers‘ future.
