had an amazing season for Jefferson County High School, and they fell just short to Bearden in round 2 but he was still a huge standout. He finished the game with 2 long touchdown runs and was efficient on the rest of his carries. He shows good vision and processing of leverage to make quick decisions to hit the hole. Mills displays quality footwork to make cuts after pressing his blocks to manipulate 2nd level defenders.

, a running back at Jefferson County High School. Mills and the Patriots picked up a 68-28 blowout victory over William Blount last week. What makes Mills so impactful on the ground is his size, speed and durability in the pocket, showing off his ability to punch into the open field and muscle his way to the house. I also like how Mills uses his electric speed and footwork to make the most of every snap, dodging and weaving tackles to put his team in a strong field position as well as put points on the board from just a few yards out.Access all of Prep Redzone

made big plays for Jefferson County High School in week 4. He had over 200 yards rushing and looked very solid at CB. Mills showed great patience and vision when running the ball. His burst and the ability to weave through the defense was very impressive. With the ball in his hands, he showed nice contact balance and understanding of leverage and how to setup blocks. On defense, he looked comfortable in zone coverage, maintaining good positioning with solid downhill transitions.

is a very smooth back with a fluid lower half. He shows amazing footwork and has very little wasted movement in his cuts. Good build and very physical, Mills loves looking for contact and is constantly trying to punish defenders. Mills displays great collision balance and creates big plays after contact when he gets to the second level. He stays square when delivering blows to defenders and understands how to brace for contact. Overall, Mills is an intriguing RB with the combination of his size and athletic traits.

Mills has been a starting back for his Patriots squad for two years now and produced some big numbers but as we begin the summer camp stretch, this East Tennessee product has yet to see those college offers come through. It’s surprising to not see the interest with Mills as I thought there would be at this point in his recruitment but that’s ok as we have plenty of time remaining for this Patriots junior offensive talent to turn some heads and earn those elusive offers. I think you will see some offers arrive soon as Mills is too physical and balanced to be looked over much longer. What I like the most about Mills is his well balanced, physical approach to running and his patience. Mills understands running lanes and how they can open anywhere at any given moment, so his patient running style is fun to watch, especially when he receives good blocking up front. He also shows good speed into the open field that can increase further with continued development. This East Tennessee back provides strong value as a consistent, smart runner with the physical makeup that can withstand the pounding runners take on the college level.

Even though Mills ranks inside the Top 100 currently, he is still underrated when it comes to my scouting. While he isn’t the flashiest of running backs, Mills is steady, strong and he knows how to gain positive yards. This is a no nonsense style of runner that lowers his shoulder and continues to push forward, using his lower body strength to break through or carry defenders down field. Mills also sports deceptive speed, so this East Tennessee product can run and break away from his opponent as well as run them over. The Patriots star senior could add more agility and explosion to his tool bag but this is a rock solid running back prospect that could provide a steady hand in your collegiate backfield.

Pro’s: Mills is a between the tackles runner with great patience and the ability to burst quickly into the open field. His vision is top notch as he allows his blockers to do their work and simply find the hole that allows him to move forward. The Patriots senior back is also physically well built and tough to bring down. You can’t arm tackle this guy and he stays balanced when taking on would be tacklers. He also shows the upside as a solid pass blocker on the collegiate level. Cons: While Mills has enough speed to get the job done, he isn’t the burner as some other backs are throughout the state. He could also develop more agility within his lower base, which could help his explosion. Adding more speed and flexibility this offseason will be key towards boosting his stock further.

Mills does a nice job of recognizing cutback lanes, and his clean, subtle footwork allows him to shuffle into holes or navigate through congestion effectively; reliably gets what’s blocked for him. Shows impressive burst in the hole and solid top-end speed to rip off big runs. Can occasionally sidestep early penetration to salvage short gains or get back to the line of scrimmage. Some ability to run through arm tackles or spin-off of contact for additional yardage.
