A name that I am familiar with, yet cannot place from where, Omar Areche Omar Areche 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB/WR Yonkers | 2027 State NY had a tendency to drag his feet when running his routes. I noted that I suspect he may be better suited for running back. This was mostly based on his build and how he moved.

Equally deserving of DB MVP honors at the PRZ NY showcase. I’ll let his clip speak for itself. Several interceptions in a 1v1 setting that favors wideouts. Some interceptions weren’t recorded either. A true stock riser, a prospect who I hope to see elevated on the 2027 NY Rankings, with an update coming in time via Cory Lemer. One of the prouder moments throughout my travel, watching a bit of a lesser known prospect like Omar Areche shine among fantastic competition.

Omar Areche Omar Areche 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB/WR Yonkers | 2027 State NY , is one of the most intriguing prospects across the state due to his versatility. In Warwick, at our Prep Redzone NY Showcase, we had him switch to the DB side for reps. He was extremely impressive, and backed that up at Jerry Flora’s Showcase.

Areche was a natural leader, and was calling out plays from the Safety, and CB positions on the defensive side of the ball. He was excellent in coverage and was great at tracking the ball across the field. On the offensive side he found himself open a lot. He showcased an outstanding understanding of zones, and showed good footwork on his routes.

He worked with both sides of the ball, and started at WR reps, where his footwork, was impressive. He was sticky in coverage, and extremely hard to lose. He gave receivers no room to operate, and was extremely physical off the line. He gave QB’s extremely tight windows on every rep, and his footwork, and hands in reps stood out. He made one of the best DB plays of the afternoon, going up for an interception on a WR, impressing everyone in attendance throughout the afternoon.

Omar was one of the clear standouts of the combine. Even though he took some reps with the wide receivers during individual drills, it was in the one on one battles where he really made his mark as a defensive back.

Omar was extremely sticky in coverage, giving receivers no room to separate and leaving quarterbacks with very tight windows, if any at all. Time and again, Omar completely erased his matchup, effectively blanketing receivers throughout the session. He put an exclamation point on his performance by going over the top of a receiver to come down with an interception, showing strong ball skills and great instincts. Overall, Omar showed the confidence, competitiveness, and coverage ability you want to see from a high level defensive back.
