Nykier Eato Nykier Eato 5'11" | 175 lbs | RB Edison | 2025 State NJ is one of my favorite running backs from the NJ class of 2025. With an impressive sophomore campaign, Nyekir dominated his opponents as he ran for 1249 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. Nyekir has developed a running style that is very transferable to the next level. When the ball is in his hands, he patiently lets the play develop and makes the smartest move possible. You won’t see him wasting time dancing around or hitting a hole too quickly, he knows when the best time to strike is. To accompany his speed he also carries a strong presence and is able to truck defenders when he sees fit. Nyekir is ready to catch every scout’s attention in 2023.

Much of Edison High School’s success last season was attributed to, and justifiably so, heralded senior QB Matt Yascko; however, perhaps an under acclaimed component to the Eagle’s explosive offense was sophomore RB Nykier Eato Nykier Eato 5'11" | 175 lbs | RB Edison | 2025 State NJ . Last season, the 5’11” 175lb tailback rushed for 1249 yards and 15 TDs, while averaging a whopping 6.8 YPC. He also caught 11 balls for 107 yards and 1 TD. He even impacted the game as a contributor on defensive and special teams by tallying 23 tackles, 5 TFL, 3 sacks, 1 FF, two blocked kicks, one of which he returned for a TD.
There are a lot of positives this young man brings as a feature tailback. First, he is a physical, violent runner who fights for extra yardage. Whether it is him lowering his shoulder or displaying his acrobatic balance, he gets the extra yardage he is fighting for. He also moves his feet through contact to break tackles and move piles.
How Eato manages his speed is interesting. He has the speed to get outside the tackles and into the alley. He also has a second and third gear that he turns on, seemingly at will, when he gets to the second and third levels of the defense. These gifts make him want to hit home runs every touch.
This is a young sophomore back. A good goal for him his junior year is to press the hole before bouncing outside. That is, he should look to run inside-out rather than bounce it immediately. These shorter 3- and 4-yard gains will add up; and he is destined to break them into huge gains with how his physical running style is complemented by his continuous leg drive.
