Expert Analysis
Connor Jackson | Prep Redzone Scout
Matthews is an absolute burner with impressive GPS metrics that consistently exceed 22 MPH. He also PR’d in the 100M at 11.35. Matthews is a no-nonsense runner who stays vertical. When given a lane, he is a TD threat from any spot on the field with his HR speed. He is physical at contact and can restart runs. He is a tall, lean 6’0 190 with space to continue growing into himself. Matthews gifts small schools access to speed they don’t typically have access to.

absolutely checks that box, despite being a vastly underrated prospect. He has my attention, though. Here is my most recent write-up:

has been a hidden gem in northeast Georgia despite production and ridiculous speed metrics. He has been clocked on the GPS as high as 25 (!) MPH. If that isn’t reliable enough for you, he also PR’d at 10.91 in the 100M. You can’t argue against his speed, which shows up on tape. If given a lane to the endzone, he will hit it and outrun angles. He is a straight-line burner who doesn’t peel off his path. He has a sturdy frame and is willing to take on contact. Matthews should fall into the lap of a small school that doesn’t often get access to his caliber of speed.”

A dynamic runner who can make plays anytime he has the ball, this North Georgia athlete is an excellent returner who shined out of the backfield as one of the fastest and more athletic running backs across the area for the 2026 class. He brings vision, burst, and was incredibly productive last fall as he ran for 1,270 yards and 14 touchdowns. He ran for at least 100 yards in seven games and ran for at least one touchdown in every game but two. He’s one of the top returning running backs in North Georgia and could be tough to step next season.
