Minnesota’s top unsigned quarterback comes out of Chanhassen High School and the heavyweight talent-factory that is the Storm’s football team. Ramler, a massive 6’5, 220 lb. multi-sport athlete with a good hoops background, has had a decorated career with Chan’s varsity the past two seasons, leading the Storm to the Class 5A state semifinal as a junior and first-year starter in 2024 and ramping things up to a Class 5A Prep Bowl appearance and runner-up finish in 2025. 19-6 as a career starter, Ramler finished with 2024 with a stat line that included 173 completions on 285 attempts (61%) for 2,372 yards and 23 TDs to 6 INTs and as a senior went 11-2 with 225 completions on 328 attempts (69%) for 2,713 yards and 29 TDs to 4 INTs. Big, tall, and strong in the pocket with some solid mobility and natural accuracy and efficiency, Ramler’s a quarterback who can win you football games, and that winning streak comes naturally, as does his accuracy and ball security going against Minnesota 5A competition. Ramler’s dad was a noted SJU alum back in the day, but Nathan hasn’t made a decision yet and his recruitment remains wide open for a suitable candidate in need of a high-level QB.

Saw His Ranking Rise 89 Spots from #151 to #62
Not only did Chanhassen High School have one of the PRzMN 2026 Ranking’s Top Newcomers, which was published yesterday morning, but they also are home to one of the state’s Biggest Stock Risers. Last update, based on the then-sophomore’s JV film, I remember crowning Ramler as the state’s best non-varsity quarterback, but holy cow did he make the most out of his first season at the helm of Chan’s varsity offense. Ramler, who led the defending state champs back to U.S. Bank Stadium, where they dropped a nail-biting 21-19 semifinal matchup to eventual champs Elk River, went 173 for 285 (61%) for 2,373 yards and 23 TDs to only 6 INTs in 2024. The completion percentage, TD to INT ratio, and big-game performances, not to mention the winning mentality, all get me excited, as does the massive pocket-passer frame that he reports is currently around 6’6, 220 lbs. Huge build, big arm, 5A success, and passed our in-person test during the state playoffs after proving himself to be collected, consistent, and accurate in the biggest football game of his life, Ramler hasn’t reported much in the recruiting department, and we think that he’s very much on the radar at this current point in time.
The XL QB can put the ball on a rope and can hit every route on the route tree with success, including deep outs and comebacks from the opposite hash and completions through tiny prep football coverage windows that require a ton of zip on the rock. His mechanics look sound and is release is quick, tight, and compact, which, combined with his big-time size, can really sling the rock around. Ramler also throws a beautiful deep ball and owns a cannon of an arm that can stretch the field vertically, drop the ball in a bucket, and leads receivers open, which can be difficult given some of the speed he is throwing to in his Storm WR room. Ramler climbs the pocket effectively, shows good awareness in terms of the internal clock a QB needs to get rid of the ball and where the rush is coming from, and is a big body as a ball carrier who can pick up first downs with his legs and tough yardage when he drops his shoulder pads. He will stand in the pocket and deliver accurate passes through oncoming contact and collisions and is also athletic enough to buy time and extend plays as a scrambler behind the LOS. Looks like a surefire scholarship QB who should be having a fruitful offseason on the recruiting trail.

One of the biggest breakout QBs from Southern MN this season has got to be Chanhassen’s Ramler, with his Week 3 performance cementing this. He had three passing TDs, one from 12 yards out, one from 25, and one from 61. I think Ramler’s stock will skyrocket this season and if he keeps it up it will.

With Brayden Windschitl gone, Chanhassen is in search of a new QB, and junior Nathan Ramler Nathan Ramler 6'5" | 230 lbs | QB Chanhassen | 2026 State MN has put himself at the front of the line to become the face of the offense. Ramler played outstandingly on the JV team, helping the JV team finish with an undefeated 7-0 record. Ramler stands tall in the pocket and airs the ball out extremely well, showing great power and arc in his throws. Ramler excites me with his deep-ball ability, hitting difficult one-on-one passes downfield with tight accuracy, and has the awareness to scramble when the pocket starts to collapse. There will certainly be high expectations for Ramler coming off a state title, but I believe that when Ramler gets comfortable in the lineup, he will excel, and the Storm has a very good chance of translating their success from last year again this year with Ramler under center.

My choice for the #1 non-varsity QB in the state, Nathan Ramler is part of a Chanhassen program that continues to show off a deep and physically well-built QB room, and with state champion senior signal-caller Brayden Windschitl Brayden Windschitl 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Chanhassen | 2024 MN off to Gustavus to play both football & baseball, it looks like the 6’5, 205 lb. sophomore Nathan Ramler is the heir apparent. Leading the Storm’s sophomore squad to a 7-0 undefeated season in 2023, Ramler threw at a 70% completion clip (135-191) and finished the season with 1,917 passing yards and 23 TDs to zero interceptions.
Ramler sports a huge frame with an ideal size for a pocket-passer and significantly more room to add weight, and he’s got a big arm that can drop the pigskin in a bucket and can stretch defenses vertically. As the stats indicate, the accuracy and ball security are both notable and impressive, and I especially liked his ball placement ability on out-breaking routes to the intermediate and second levels of the field. The rising senior signal-caller will also step up into the pocket to complete throws through pressure, displays good timing, gets the ball out quickly, and is safe and secure with the rock. The arm strength, decision-making, and accuracy have to excite the Chan varsity staff, and I’m very interested to see Ramler under the bright lights of varsity action. Going to be a big year for the quarterback.
