wasn’t just another receiver for the Mountain View Toros this season—he was their go-to guy when they needed a playmaker. Whether it was hauling in deep balls, grinding out tough catches over the middle, or sprinting past defenders in open space, Sumko did it all. With 1,010 receiving yards on 68 catches and seven touchdowns, he consistently delivered big-time performances, but his real magic was in how he did it. Sumko’s body control is special. He’s the type of player who can adjust mid-air to a poorly thrown ball or absorb contact and still come down with the catch. Those traits made him a nightmare for defenders, especially in tight coverage. His hands are rock solid. Tough catches — the ones most receivers would bobble or even drop — looked routine for him. And once he had the ball, his top-end speed kicked in, leaving most defenders chasing his shadow. One of Sumko’s best games came in the semifinals against Brophy College Prep, where he racked up 134 yards on seven catches, averaging nearly 20 yards per reception. He was unstoppable that night, showing off his ability to stretch the field and create big plays. This year was historic for Mountain View, with Sumko helping the Toros achieve a rare milestone: two 1,000-yard receivers in the same season. His blend of athleticism, technique, and consistency leaves no doubt that he’s headed for even bigger things in the future.

Sumko is a well-rounded receiver with a combination of length, technical ability, and ball skills. At 6’2” 190 lbs. he’s got a long lean frame with the growth potential to add weight without sacrificing his speed or athleticism. He’s an advanced route runner that does a great job setting up and selling his routes at the top. He’s patient and waits for the DB to transition before he makes his cut. In addition to his route running ability, he’s a strider that possesses the speed to stretch the field and run past coverage. Strong at the catch point, he extends to catch the ball with his hands and away from his body. A threat to gain yards after the catch using his speed or strength, he can use his strength to run through secondary defenders or use his speed to breakaway once in space. Finished the 2023 season with over 800 yards on 43 receptions with seven touchdowns. Holds four D1 offers to date with more on the way.
