Mike Consolazio Mike Consolazio 5'10" | 170 lbs | LB Marlboro | 2024 NJ is one of two true, stand-up linebackers who are under consideration this year. Consolazio has outstanding close-space speed, as demonstrated by his ability to accelerate and close in on a ball carrier. He has a decent euro-step move that he has proven effective against slower lineman who do not trust their feet. Consolazio can squeeze tight down the line effectively enough to chase plays down from behind. The senior backer also has a keen sense as to when it is appropriate to attack the ball. It is Consolazio’s motor that sets him apart on the field. Never watching and always in motion, sheer effort and desire allows for Consolazio to succeed. Consolazio generates too much power for backs to pick him up in pass protection. One one clip Consolazio made a great play; however, from what I can tell he took a chance and may have compromised the defense. For Consolazio’s game to translate to the next level, he must incorporate hand fighting and work his hips around to bend the corner rather than round it.

One game can change the total impression of the season. This might be the case of Marlboro’s Consalazio. Across three games played, Consalazio has accrued 22 tackles on the season, 15 of which are solo stops, 8 tackles for loss, and 7 sacks. This output is highlighted by a 10 tackle, 6 sack performance at Howell. Consalazio is also a rotational player on offense, having slashed 4/97/1 on the ground and 3/14/1 as a pass catcher.

Marlboro is off to a 3-0 start this season as their defense has allowed just 14 points thus far. A big contributor to their stifling start has been the play of Consolazio, a senior linebacker. In Marlboro’s last game, a 3-0 win over Howell, Consolazio had a career stat line that hopefully can convert into scholarship money in the spring. Consalazio led this state this weekend with a whopping 6 sacks to go along with his 10 tackles (9 solos), and 6 TFL.
