PRZ WI has covered the rising West Bend East OL multiple times over this offseason. It was great to get eyes on him in person to see how he handled himself with a lot of different competition. Michael fit right in and stood out. His budding frame lived up to the hype as he checked in at 6’5″ 240 lbs with long arms. Michael showed off quick feet that allowed him to get into his pass set efficiently. His feet also allowed him to mirror DEs quickly while maintaining a wide, strong base. It was also good to see that Kern is developing the strength needed for the position. His anchor allowed him to not lose ground against power and was able to steer his opponent. He has earned multiple offers from the D2/D3 levels since the camp.

A kid that I believe will take off as camp season begins is the West Bend East OT. He will be an impressive athlete in person. He has a 6’9″ wingspan and stands at 6’5″ 240 lbs. Michael has been putting in the work in the gym too and that weight has been going up in response. On tape, Kern has consistent body control and balance that allows him to reach block, get up to the second level, or crash down DL while maintaining an athletic, powerful stance. I can’t wait to see and hear how he does at camps after his great offseason. It will culminate in a dominant senior season. He is the top junior prospect in the county.

Watching through his highlights, I am a big fan of his feet. Michael is able to move with ease on his light feet. He can get himself in position to always be between the defender and ball. The 6’5” 230 lbs LT is an intriguing prospect. He is going to be a big riser during our postseason rankings update. His frame is primed to fill out, and turn Michael into a must have recruit. Kern’s technique is well developed. Hands inside, wide base, stays well balanced. He also has the strength to create movement despite not being the biggest lineman, yet. There isn’t much missing besides to continue to add muscle and overall size over the next year. There is a lot of potential in the junior.
