About Michael

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am aggressive player with a high football IQ. I have played and have been trained by some of the best in the country.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I play with heart and I don’t stop until that whistle has blown. Aggressive on the field but friendly, funny and reserved off the field.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

After my Freshman year where I attended a nationally ranked high school in California, and earned Freshman Defensive MVP and called up to Varsity, my family moved to Kentucky. I embraced the move and the culture. Different workouts and expectations were a challenge but I have found my way into making Logan County my home and my teammates as brothers.

Michael Hammonds Michael Hammonds Michael Hammonds 5'11" | 200 lbs | LB Logan County | 2026 State KY is a player who caught my attention with a solid junior year. Hammonds lines up at middle linebacker where he does a great job defending the run. He reads his keys quickly then explodes downhill to shoot his gap and meet the ball carrier. Once he meets the ball carrier, he does a great job of finishing the tackle and not allowing for extra yards to be made. Hammonds finished this past season with 67 tackles and five tackles for loss in 11 games. He also showed the ability to put pressure on the quarterback, finishing the year with 2.5 sacks. Michael doesn’t currently hold any offers but he should be a player for college coaches to keep an eye on heading into his senior year.

The final linebacker who stood out to me at Sunday’s camp was Michael Hammonds Michael Hammonds Michael Hammonds 5'11" | 200 lbs | LB Logan County | 2026 State KY . Hammonds was very impressive during the open field competition, keeping good inside position against the running backs while also showing the ability to close in on them quickly. He also stood out during position drills, showing the ability to read his keys quickly then flow to the ball carrier in a hurry. Hammonds doesn’t currently hold any offers but he should be a player to watch heading into his senior year.

Michael Hammonds Michael Hammonds Michael Hammonds 5'11" | 200 lbs | LB Logan County | 2026 State KY is another 2026 linebacker that caught my attention this past season. Hammonds lines up at outside linebacker where he is very reliable against the run. He does a great job of using his speed to flow to the ball carrier in a hurry and his strength to fight through blocks on his way. Hammonds is a very reliable tackler once he gets to the ball carrier, finishing this past season with 38 tackles and two tackles for loss in 11 games. He also finished the season with one sack and an interception. Hammonds doesn’t currently hold any offers but should be a player to pay close attention to heading into his junior season.
