Max Kozikowski is the type of player who comes to mind when you think about exceptional run-stopping inside linebackers. He has a thick build, he’s physical and he seems to enjoy contact. Even on offense he looks like a battering ram as a running quarterback. His future is likely on defense, but he could also be effective as a ball carrier in short-yardage situations. Kozikowski spent last season playing for St. Paul Catholic in Bristol, Conn., but will transfer to Loomis Chaffee in Windsor, Conn., next season. He’s athletic, versatile and strong, and looks like a sound tackler. Opposing players rarely break free once Kozikowski has his hands on them. Kozikowski also delivers a blow when he tackles. His film doesn’t show much in terms of dropping into pass coverage or many plays where he’s traveling a long way to make a stop, but he’s certainly a player who makes it tough for opponents to run the ball between the tackles. He will likely need to improve his lateral speed and quickness to excel as a linebacker at the next level.
