Maximus Hrvatin plays the linebacker position at full speed. I loved watching him fly around all season showing up big time for the Hilltoppers defense. He made a lot of big plays at the outside linebacker spot that allowed him to pressure the quarterback. He recorded 9 sacks on the year showing off his ability to be an effective pass rusher from the edge. He was also playing at the inside linebacker position as well for most of the year. Overall Hrvatin is great player within the front 7 and should be highly recruited the rest of the offseason.

The senior Joliet Catholic linebacker had a strong performance in a Round 2 victory, as Hrvatin earned 2 sacks and forced a fumble. He measures in at 6’2, 220 lbs and fills a variety of roles for the Hilltopper defense. Primarily playing inside linebacker, Hrvatin gets downhill in a hurry to meet opposing ball carries in the backfield. He can smoothly scrape with pullers and takes on blocks at the point of contact with strong physicality. Hrvatin also shows off his athleticism when rushing the passer and dropping into coverage. As the Hill continues to dominate, Hrvatin will continue to shine in the middle of their defense.

Max might be the athlete who sees the biggest increase in his recruitment based off his camp performances. I believe he is still looking for his first offer, but that won’t be far away based off what I’ve seen from him. Hrvatin has a great frame to continue to build on at 6’2″ 220 lbs. With that frame comes next level speed and strength. Max benches 410, squats 565, and cleans 300 lbs. He also runs 4.63 in the 40. It all translates to the field as well. At camps, Max is going to prove that he can be a three down LB with his coverage traits. Hrvatin looks natural dropping into coverage, especially in zone. He is a quick processor and his range allows him to close quickly. Max is going to test well, look good in one on ones, and when they go back to his tape it should seal the deal.
