Max Oliverio Max Oliverio 5'11" | 195 lbs | LB/RB DeSales | 2029 KY has been on my radar for a couple of months now and has continued to have a breakout sophomore campaign for DeSales. Oliverio can guard the pass well in both man and zone coverage and has shown he can break off his receiver in time to pursue the ball carrier. This past weekend, against Christian Academy Louisville’s high-powered offense, Olvierio recorded 11 total tackles, including 9 solo tackles. He also added 65 yards of offense against the 3A’s top team.

Max Oliverio Max Oliverio 5'11" | 195 lbs | LB/RB DeSales | 2029 KY established himself as a standout linebacker on DeSales’ defense last season as a freshman. This saw him finish the season with 82 total tackles (56 solo), 10 TFLs, and 5.0 sacks. Fast forward to last Friday, and Oliverio was all over the field, having recorded 14 total tackles and 3 TFLs despite losing to Oldham County 38-10. He also made a big-time special teams play with a blocked punt to help give his team a chance offensively deep in enemy territory. Oliverio is a player who gives great effort in the middle of DeSales’ defense and does a great job at sniffing out plays, covering his gaps and bull-rushing his way through the line of scrimmage.

Max Oliverio Max Oliverio 5'11" | 195 lbs | LB/RB DeSales | 2029 KY is an exceptional run-stopper at the middle linebacker position for DeSales. What impresses me most about his game is the patience he displays in blitz packages. He doesn’t rush the line of scrimmage blindly but takes a moment for the play to develop before choosing his spot and making a move on the football. The hesitation doesn’t hinder him; often, it helps him get past offensive linemen who are already engaged with another defender. This enables him to slip by unblocked and reach the ball carrier. When he is blocked, Oliverio has shown he can free himself and finesse his way out of the block.
