Sarte is one of the most slept on 2023 prospects in the state. He’s got a good skillset for a college level inside LB with the size to match at 6’2” 235 lbs. He’s a downhill and attacking defensive player with a quick trigger to read and react. A plus athlete that can bend off the edge as a rusher or flip his hips to redirect and close space on the ball in a hurry. Love his short area burst and acceleration to break on the ball. Active hands, he does a good job using them effectively to disengage and free himself up to make a tackle. Plays full speed and fast on every down and is smart/efficient with his attack angles. Strong and powerful at the POA he drives through contact and finishes to the ground with aggression. Voted first team all-league.

**Matai attends Lakes HS**

Sarte has been having a fantastic senior year on the field. He’s a top 5 ranked linebacker in the 2023 class and for good reason. He cones off the edge in a blink of an eye, almost getting right to the running back as he was being handed the ball by the quarterback against Spanaway Lake HS. Matai reads the quarterback extremely well, always keeping his eyes on him. That helped him during his fumble recovery he took to the house for a touchdown.

Sarte is one of the top linebackers in the state, so a top performance during week 1 might not surprise a lot of people. His play on the field spoke for itself, he was playing excellent against the run and pass. He dropped back in coverage like it was no problem, keeping up with all the receivers easily. He was in the backfield quite a bit but did have 3 of his 14 tackles for loss. He also had a sack on the night and a pass deflected. Now attending Lakes HS, Matai is going to be the leader of a very solid defense that will keep improving as the year goes on.

Sarte has the build of a prototypical linebacker at the college level at a sturdy 6’2″ 230, and he absolutely looks the part on film. What impressed me most about Sarte is his adaptability and how he was used in numerous different ways for Fife’s defense; he could line up off the ball or off the edge and still find his way to the linebacker with impressive efficiency. Sarte has great quickness and agility which allows him to knife through opposing blockers and get to the ball carrier and even make tackles when he is slightly off balance. He keeps a solid pad level throughout the play and looks like a bull seeing red when he has a clear line to the quarterback. Despite being 1st Team All-League as a junior, Sarte is a guy that has not gotten a lot of action on the recruiting trail thus far. With a big senior season, the evaluators at the next level will certainly take notice.
