Paynesville has a fun and dynamic 2027 QB on their roster in Mason Hansen Mason Hansen 6'1" | 160 lbs | QB/ATH Paynesville | 2027 State MN , who made his way down from the St. Cloud area ready to put in work. The 6’1, 175 lber. showed PRZMN early on why he tallied more than 2,232 all-purpose yards in 2025 as a junior, popping off an eye-catching 4.75 and 4.76 laser-verified 40 and following it up with a 4.44 pro-agility and 30.9” vert. Shoutout to ETS Performance for the metrics and equipment. Hansen, who went 134-209 (64) for 1,882 yards and 17 TDs as a junior, had a good all-around showing, throwing to all three levels of the field with accuracy and timing, and he manufactured one particular moon shot deep into the Concordia-St. Paul airspace that really held our attention. I wasn’t sure if Hansen had what it takes to play QB at the next level going into the 612Q’s Offensive Skills Camp, but after the event, I think I may be swayed. Up the rankings you go, son! 

Hansen generated the most yardage of our returning 2A starters, and he will be one of the most exciting returning starters to watch in the state. Hansen completed over 64% of his passes for 1882 yards, 17 TDs, and 8 INTs while rushing for 350 yards and 7 TDs in 2025. Hansen has the makings of a gunslinger, and he’s not afraid to chuck the ball deep 40+ yards down the field to create a big play. More often than not, Hansen was able to create big plays with his strong arm, hitting tight windows and showing great accuracy on the run. The talented three-sport athlete should be a must-watch prospect within the 2A conference going into his senior year.

A 6’1, 180 lb. three-sport standout from the Class AA St. Cloud-area program, Hansen has been one of the state’s bigger recruiting risers from the 2025 season, taking a gameday visit to North Dakota this past weekend, and when you turn on the midseason tape it’s easy to say why his recruiting is starting to take off.

Hansen possesses a huge arm that can really stretch the field vertically. The second play of his midseason tape is especially eye-catching, as Hansen rockets the ball outside of the pocket from his own 33-yard line that travels beautifully into the awaiting breadbasket of his wideout near the opposing 15-yard line for a MONSTER of a deep ball early in the season. The 180 lber. can drop the ball cleanly in the bucket and put some excellent touch on the pigskin in-between multiple DBs for eye-catching passes all around the three levels of the gridiron and fit the ball into some impressively small windows as a junior prep QB. His combination of touch, arm strength, and ball placement is an exciting mix, and the Paynesville product is also mobile and can extend plays and navigate the pocket well as a scrambler, with some fun twitch and elusiveness in the open field. If his athletic numbers are close to what he reports online (4.62 40, 4.24 pro-agility), we have a serious prospect in our hands in Paynesville’s junior class.
