Mason has been a recent OL MVP at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase in the past, but showed up in Sioux Falls last Saturday as a defensive linemen which to me shows the trenches flexibility this young man has for those college coaches out there. Mason boosted some of the more open, loose hips I saw in the early session out of the defensive line group which showed the translation you want to see when we got into Indy and 1v1 reps as he showed off one of more quicker gets especially out of the underclassmen we had in attendance. He’s also got a more explosive bend than others at the defensive tackle position that were in attendance. I am sure I have said it before, but Mason rarely misses when it comes to attention to detail with his coachability and you saw that in the live reps from what you saw from his first to last reps of the day. He finished as one of our end of session top performers in the DL group as well.

. Mason’s hit a growth spurt this offseason, so I will be intrigued to watch how he utilizes more length at his disposal. He boosts a quick first step and I can only miagine knowing Mason’s work ethic, that the first step has added more agility since we last got a live eval from him in December. He gained a ton of poise from what we saw in December when it came to pass-protection, and I will be intrigued to see the further growth this coming Saturday in Sioux Falls.

Our OL MVP from last spring may not have taken the nod this time at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase, but

still had a strong showing in his live eval in Aberdeen last Sunday. It appeared to me that Mason has gotten more fluid not just with his first step, but across the board with his footwork since last Spring which was good to see. That also has truth with his pro shuttle times, as I felt those numbers improved significantly as well. When I watched him during 1v1s, I felt he also was quicker with engaging his hands from eyes. The development keeps showing for Mason and with his attention to detail he has, sky’s the limit for his football future.

Mason proved a point this Spring as our Offensive Line MVP at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase and thus far in the 2025 season he’s done it again with not allowing a sack thru the first four weeks of the season. As a trench monster that plays on both sides of the ball, where I have seen the growth the most on either side appears with Mason’s get off in a couple areas. The first area is his first step certainly has gotten quicker and the second area is how efficent and agile Mason looks getting off blocks as a defensive tackle. The growth on offense aligns in pass-protection as it didn’t take long to gauge the sound hand placement and technique that Mason has continued to growh. I know I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating that Mason has one of the best work ethics you will see in this 2028 class.

- OL MVP
Coming off near a top-tier performance this winter at our Aberdeen Showcase, Mason took a massive step ahead taking home our OL MVP last Saturday, which is very rare for a 2028 target to do at our PRZ Showcases across the country especially in the offensive trenches. Mason sealed off a more natural athletic base from his first look on Saturday in the live reps.It didn’t take long for me to notice too the growth from an agility standpoint in his first step as he has developed swiftly since December. During 1v1s, Mason showed off a fast learning curve with his well-versed angles and technique, He improved with his pad-level as there wasn’t a rep that I watched from Mason that didn’t show his hands right almost on point with the defensive linemen. His football IQ is blossoming quickly as the sophomore to surely is going be a riser by next 2028 as one of my favorite athletes from a character perspective in this class so far.

Mason was right up there in my top-tier amongst offensive linemen in attendance in December and man, did he take a great step forward taking home our OL MVP last Saturday, as it’s pretty rare to see a 2028 offensive linemen take the title amongst the hog mollies. Mason not only grew a more athletic base, but I certainly felt his agile first step improved since December which told the tale in the live eval and with his improved pro agility number (5.07).He also improved from a fluidity perspective which didn’t take long to see the development he had. In 1v1s, Mason showed off well-versed technique with his footwork, and I felt his base was wider to close off the defensive ends quickly and get them off their line to the ball. He also in my eyes improved with his pad-level as there wasn’t a rep that I watched from Mason that didn’t show his hands right on point with the defensive linemen. His football IQ is developing quickly as just a freshman, and I cannot to see where it takes him in the coming years as a young man too that has fantastic character for his age.

In my eyes, Mason has the best position flexibility on both sides of the trenches within this top five. The 6’0 240 pounder from TImber Lake, has great short-area vision for his age and wastes no time identifying the point of attack with his instincts as a run-stopper. You don’t see too many 2028 targets that are comfortable enough to play on both sides at our combines but Mason was one of one that I recall doing so has that should be a contribution of how well-versed this young man’s football IQ really is. Some of the best character I have seen early too in this 2028 class which will never go unnoticed
