Oakland Middle School has won five of the last six Rutherford County championships in football and that doesn’t happen without a lot of talent and quality coaching. While Kirby was not selected as an All-Conference player, watching the big man on film told me everything I need to know. He has a ton of potential to become one of the top Offensive/Defensive Tackles in the state if he commits to it. Kirby is naturally a basketball player, but has the size and feet to become a D1 lineman.

- Maliek Kirby is another play who’s power is his best friend, and oh boy what a friend it is. Kirby is a nasty interior blocker, being able to quickly get his hands on his assignment and drive them back.
- Kirby however isn’t a one trick pony, as he also showcases some pretty good athleticism and ability to move in space. A skill that will serve him well moving forward.
- While he currently plays as a G/C, I think Kirby has real potential as a tackle at the next level. Kirby’s blend of power and athleticism would serve him well at that position, being able to use those tools to deal with either a speed or power edge rusher very effectively.
