About Malakai

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I love the game. I love to tackle and be physical and grow. I’ve always started on offence and defense because I’m open to learning everything and I want to help my team.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I was raised on the island of Kauai where I spent nearly every day in the ocean. The Hawaiian culture of Aloha and ohana are part of me forever. We all work together for the greater good.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Junior Lifeguards, Kauai. Nominated for statewide award for saving a life. Hanalei Canoe Club; Outrigger Hawaiian Paddle Canoe, member for life

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Leadership and community service in the ocean safety field. Teamwork skills through football, 7v7, esports, and track.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My father passed away in 2023. My mom was severely injured on an expedition, too. I moved from my home on Kauai to Oregon to be close to family and support.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a good academic school with a strong community and culture. I would love to play D1 Football at a school with a good football program that cares deeply for its students, teams, community, and leaders.
