In one of the bigger surprises from Week 8, Wauwatosa East beat Catholic Memorial in commanding fashion. That was in big part due to the Tosa East defense, and the running of senior ATH

. It seemed like every touch was going to be a highlight reel type of run. The mix of power and speed that Mack runs the ball with is impressive. His contact balance through hits and the body control to be able to recover from awkward angles and then burst back to top speed is a rare trait and it shined Friday night. Malachi also has the game breaking speed when he hits the open field and even against a talented defense that speed stood out on tape. Mack carved up the CM defense with his speed, balance, vision, and innate ability to make the highlight reel play look easy. Don’t sleep on the senior playmaker anymore. Check out what he did.

We are in store for a big season from the versatile ATH out of Wauwatosa East. Mack and East kick off their 2024 season with a game against Kingdom Prep Lutheran. A team they faced off with in 2023 and beat commandingly 44-6. East will be looking to repeat that success and so will Malachi who posted a dominant line of 3 receptions, 59 yards, 1 TD, 8 Tackles, 2 Sacks, and a forced fumble.
Malachi has the talent to take over games like he did in that Kingdom Prep Lutheran matchup in 2023. He plays the game faster than a lot of the opponents he faces off with. We see him easily get the edges on end arounds, get behind the defense in the pass game, and fly off the edge on defense to put pressure on the QB. Wherever you put him on the field Malachi finds ways to make plays with his superior athleticism. I’m excited to see what he does this time around.

Malachi has had a fantastic camp season, and it has led to his first two offers. One from Duluth and one from Northern State. It will be interesting to see if some more teams wait for game tape to come out this summer/fall or if they are preparing to offer him in their next round of offers. I was able to watch Malachi in person at the Badgers camp where he dominated the combine, drills, and 1 on 1s. He has legitimate 4.5 speed and is an explosive and agile athlete in short areas and as a route runner. Malachi dominates at the catch too. His catch radius is much larger than you would expect from a 5’10” WR. The ’25 attacks the ball with impressive hops and soft hands. Be the next staff to offer this dude.

Malachi was my first great impression of the day. He stole the show during the combine every time he stepped forward for his attempts. The 5’10” 170 lbs electric WR ran a 4.53 and 4.54 40. He broad jumped 9’8″ and 9’10”. He also hit an exceptional 4.23 in the pro agility. Fast, explosive, and agile. Descriptive words that you want to use when identifying top WR talent. Malachi offers those from his muscled up 170 lbs frame. Where Mack set himself apart was in receiver work. That is where we got to see the change of direction agility, burst, and body control. Mack stood out from the large group of WRs because of the speed he went through routes with. He got into them fast and instantly accelerated coming out of them. DBs were having a nightmarish time trying to cover him in 1 on 1s too. It didn’t matter if it was off man or press, Malachi created separation and easily tracked down the ball. This kid is on the rise and is truly one of the best WRs that WI has to offer the college level.

The 5’10, 168 lbs junior from Wauwatosa East was one of the fastest wide outs at the WI Stock Up Showcase. Mack was perhaps the most impressive player who tested during the skill session, as he raced to a 4.59 40 yards dash and a 4.30 short shuttle. He also jumped a 10′ broad jump. Mack showed high level athleticism that translated to drill work, as he showed out in 1-on-1’s by winning matchups on a variety of routes. Whether short, intermediate, or vertical, Mack proved to be a great separator and a smooth athlete who can defeat man coverage. This rising star in Mack is beginning to pick up steam on the recruiting trail.

Malachi is an athlete who has steadily been on the rise in 2023. During his junior season he proved to be a game changer on the field. His athletic profile is going to get him a lot of eyes on him during the offseason/camp cycle. When the coaches go to the film they are going to see that it translates to the field. Mack plays the game faster than the rest of the field. Not only physically, but mentally. You don’t see any hesitation. The junior was decisive, quick to recognize or read, and played with little to no wasted movement. When Malachi has the ball in his hands, he is an elusive playmaker with the vision to find the best way to attack the field. His instincts with the ball are very strong. The most exciting part is that Malachi can become even more dangerous of a weapon on offense as he learns the nuanced parts of route running. I’m excited to follow Malachi’s offseason, and hopefully see him at some camps.
