Another seek and destroy ILB is Make Chevalier of Appleton East. The 6’1″ 215 lbs 2027 is a tone setter in the middle of the defense. Even in coverage there is a clip of him decleating a WR coming across the middle of the field. Maks is quick with his closing on the football and doesn’t hesitate at the tackle. Instead you see that burst through the tackle to punish ball carriers and drive them backwards. Maks is a well rounded athlete at LB too, showing he can play in space and still flip that switch to physicality any instance he needs to.
Maks was back on the field after some time away and he returned in a big way. The junior made plays rushing the QB, dropping into coverage, and playing against the run. As a run defender, Maks did a great job mirroring the movement of the RB in backfield and putting himself in position to meet them in the hole for quick stops. Maks also did well avoiding and shedding blocks while playing that inside run game. The ’27 LB did well keeping his eyes in the backfield and finding the ball early in the play. Dive into the highlights of one of the better LBs in the Class of 2027.
Maks is definitely a kid that is on the rise in the Class of 2027. He is looking the part at 6’1″ 215 lbs and plays just as physical as you would hope from an underclassman with that size. Maks is at his best vs the run. He is quick to come downhill and is able to fly through the line of scrimmage unblocked at a very high rate. Even when a lineman does try to get hands on him the sophomore is able to quickly get himself clean and stay on his path to the QB/RB. Chevalier is piling up experience that is going to be so valuable for him long term. Keep an eye on the development of this LB.
