About Madox
Expert Analysis
Jamiel Josey | Prep Redzone Scout
Madox is developing into a disruptive edge rusher in the Class of 2027 with an intriguing blend of size and athletic upside. At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Decker possesses the ideal frame to continue adding strength while already presenting matchup problems for offensive tackles. He shows a strong first step off the snap, allowing him to quickly threaten the outside shoulder and force linemen into recovery mode. His length is a major asset, as he uses his arms effectively to create separation and keep blockers from locking onto his chest. Decker plays with a relentless motor, consistently pursuing quarterbacks and ball carriers from the backside. He demonstrates the ability to set the edge in the run game, holding his ground and maintaining outside leverage. As a pass rusher, he flashes the ability to convert speed to power and collapse the pocket. His physical tools and developing technique suggest significant upside as he continues to refine his hand usage and counter moves. With continued growth in the weight room and technical development, Decker has the traits to emerge as a dominant edge presence in Pennsylvania’s 2027 class.

shows good skill at tight end by playing a variety of roles on offense. He was used as a wide receiver, in-line tight end, and a tight end off the ball. In all three positions, he showed the ability to block and catch the ball. He showed that he could run a variety of routes and catch the ball well in space. Decker also showed a good ability to block. He did a nice job in space by blocking. He also showed in-line blocking ability as well. Decker has the total package at tight end.

had an impressive showcase. During the portion, I saw he ran excellent routes. He did a nice job of getting in and out of his breaks. Decker also shows excellent hands and did a good job of running routes against defenders. Decker showed he has a ton of potential at tight end.

Decker may have ultimately landed on our third team but he very easily could’ve been on the first or second team, all three of our tight end selections were great on Friday. Checked in at 6-foot-2 and 193-pounds with quality testing times.

Question: Is Madox a candidate for early interest/offers?
Madox Decker was a hot name to know in the preseason. I was clamoring to find names with some hype surrounding them, Decker fit that mold in the pre-season. 6’4, 205, ranked as a top-five tight end to know for programs digging into 2027s. I have yet to dive into any 2027 tape, so I’m in the dark as to whether or not Decker has cashed in on an off-season full of promise. I will begin breaking down 2027s after the camp. That being said, it’s great to have the young man in the building, competing alongside fantastic upperclassmen. If we identify you as a top 50 prospect early on, it usually bodes well for the kid in terms of recruitment. Is Decker worthy of early interest? I’d say so. Is he worthy of being an early offer candidate? That I don’t know. Seeing him work under my microscope on Friday night might answer that question. His tape from this past Fall will as well.
