Perhaps on the shorter side for a tight end but has produced as a hybrid TE/WR terhoughout his high school career. Well built though at 6-foot-2 and 220-pounds and is a physical tight end whose not afraid to use his strength. Plays bigger than his size and has the athleticsim that allows to be a dynamic recieving threat as well.

has put on size and strength since last season and is seeing more time as a traditional tight end this year after being a hybrid TE/WR last season. He’s noticeably bigger and stronger this season and is now listed as 6’2 220 which is much closer to the size he needs to be in order to play the tight end position in college. Perine still has his big play ability that he showed as a junior and can still flex out to the slot or even carry the ball but he has also shown this season that he can be physical in the blocking game which is great to see. Perine still looks just as athletic as he looked last season and hasn’t lost a step with the added weight gain. Through five games, Perine has caught 12 passes on 15 targets for 187 yards and five total touchdowns.

is a playmaker. Perine is a big play machine for the Cougars who was seemingly scoring a touchdown or chunk play every time he touched the ball. He had an astounding 86% catch rate on his targets and averaged over 18 yards per catch. Perine is a WR/TE tweener who is primarily a bigger slot receiver at this stage of his career. At 6’1 200 he would need to add some weight to be a tight end at the next level but I was impressed with his play as a pure receiver. Perine can go up and make contested catches over defensive backs but he also has some playmaking ability after the catch. I thought he was a fluid athlete that moves well and has a little twitch to him. He’s tough to bring down and creates a lot of missed tackles that lead to those chunk plays.
Whichever position he ends up at in college he’s sure to be a difference-maker for any team that gets him.
