About Maddex

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a tall and athletic QB with a big arm. I see the field well and am an accurate passer. I am working on getting bigger and stronger and will be continuing to work on my speed and dual threat abilities.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am someone who gets along with everyone. I respect my coaches, teammates, and fellow competitors.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am very active in my church and have held many leadership positions in my church’s youth organizations.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have served as the President, Vice President, and a Secretary in my church’s young men’s organization. There I developed leadership skills as I planned activities for small and large groups. Activities that included multiple service projects, campouts, parties, and other activities. I have also played on many basketball and baseball teams in which I learned teamwork and leadership skills.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I was late to start playing football so I felt behind when starting my high school career. I have had to push through and work extra hard to overcome not having as much experience. I won the Varsity starting QB job my sophomore year and was starting to feel comfortable in my 2nd game when I broke my hand and had to have surgery. I sat out all last season and it has been a challenge to get back.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am interested in all types of schools. I love all parts of the country as I have a lot of family in Las Vegas, Utah, and Arizona on the West Coast and I have a lot of family in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia on the East Coast. I would love the opportunity to further my education and play football.

Peterson completed 21/39 passes for 381 yards and 5 TDs in Durango’s 49-6 win over Cimarron-Memorial on Friday night. It was the junior QB’s first game without an interception and his most productive passing effort of the season. He made some strong throws downfield and navigated the pocket well making plays with his legs when things broke down. Peterson is still on the raw side as a passer and needs to continue to cut down on the turnovers but has a strong performance to build on coming down the stretch.

Peterson moved into the official rankings after being added to the 2027 watchlist back in the spring. The junior QB out of Durango has put together a strong offseason showing off his accuracy and arm strength as a passer in recent 7v7s. He’s flashed good touch and placement on the deep ball and can change arm angles to fit into tight windows. Peterson’s a player to keep an eye on if he’s able to earn the starting job this fall.

Peterson was a new addition to PRZ NV’s 2027 WL in April’s update after impressing our scouts at the Recruit Vegas Combine and Showcase last month. The 6’2″/180 QB out of Durango HS had his sophomore season limited by injury but will be looking to put his name on Nevada’s radar with a strong junior season in the fall. He’s still developing in his mechanics and fundamentals of the position but has shown some nice touch as a passer in recent 7v7 events. Peterson will be a QB to keep an eye on in 2025.
