Mark Johnson | Prep Redzone Scout
Duluth has a good one coming to town next season. I was able to key in on Jung several times while he was at safety. The ’25 DB looks better than ever with his 6’2″ 190 lbs frame. He flashed range to be able to get to the sideline and on one particular play delivered a monster hit on a WR to break up a pass at the last moment. Luke also showed no hesitation against the run game, flying downhill, closing quickly, and running through tackle attempts. Jung has definitely developed his game this offseason, and his best football is still ahead of him.

Luke was a leader in the front seven Friday night. He is a hybrid safety/LB chess piece that plays around the front seven or out in the slot. He is a long athlete, but Luke brings the strength to be able to take on blocks, shed, and make run stuffing tackles in short yardage scenarios. Jung is a solid athlete laterally too. When out in space he can match up well with ball carriers and not get shaken or forced to miss tackles. The junior was definitely needed at his best last night because Appleton North fielded a talented OL and wanted to establish the run with their physical QB/RB combo. He was up for the challenge.

Stats: 10 TacklesrnThe standout junior safety prospect was all over the field in Week 5. It didn’t matter if he lined up 15 yards deep or in the box. Luke found a way to be around the football. That checks off the range box. The 6’1″ 180 lbs junior is also a hard hitting, wrap up tackler. Jung did a good job of quickly reading and reacting to the flow of the OL/play and keeping himself in position/leverage to make the play. Jung has been a weekly standout against the ground game.

The Neenah sophomore played in a S/OLB role in 2022 and it fit his skill set perfectly. Jung is an athlete that fits the mold of a three level safety. A safety that has the stout power to play down near the line of scrimmage. He can fit off or around blocks and make tackles that stop RBs in their tracks. Luke can also play 15 yards deep, read the field, and show off the range to get to the ball in time. Whether that be attacking downhill to the line of scrimmage when he reads run or getting over to the sideline to break up a pass. Luke already plays like a veteran on the varsity field, and we still get to watch him do his thing for two more seasons.
