After a down year in 2021, the Caledonia Warriors are firmly back on track and posted an 8-3 record with only nearby rival Chatfield having stood in the way of them qualifying for state in what was a thrilling 10-8 section 1AA championship that went the way of the Gophers. With experience and talent returning all over the field, the Warriors will be led by QB Lewis Doyle, who also is a standout hooper and carries a 3.9 GPA. In seven games of 2022 action, Doyle posted a 60% completion rate with 9 TDs, and I also like his game as a defensive back, where he ballhawks from the secondary and can go up and pluck the ball out of the air with ease. Offensively, his balance and vision when buying time and scrambling around the pocket is exciting and a nightmare for defenses to deal with, and he can make something out of nothing and improvise when things break down with comfort and success. I also like his touch on passes downfield, and overall he’s a good athlete at the position who needs to be accounted for at all times. It’s been a good year for Doyle and his senior campaign will be even better. No reported interest or offers on the recruiting front right now.
