Expert Analysis
Sam Erman | Prep Redzone Scout
Crandall is a versatile 2-way player who got some work as a freshman and then took a big jump as a sophomore on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he’s a 1-cut runner with good speed. He’s got good contact balance and fights through contact for extra yardage. He’s got decent vision, and his feet are fast enough to follow. He averaged over 7 yards per carry while putting up 872 yards and 15 TDs. He’s got good hands, but is in an offense that doesn’t spread the ball out much. Year 3 will likely see him fully taking on the lead back role, and I think he’s ready for it.

Crandall has had back-to-back seasons on Varsity to start his high school career, and he improved quite a bit from year 1 to year 2. He’s more powerful, runs with more confidence, and seems like he saw the field better. While I do wish he were a part of a more traditional offense, he’s got such good vision that he can get through the traffic. Through 21 games, he’s put up 1224 rushing yards and 26 TDs. I would anticipate his workload jumps quite a bit in year 3, but time will tell.

Crandall fits in his offense perfectly and it’s what helped him have such a good freshman year. He’s a back who can break tackles, fight through contact, and make something out of nothing. He broke a 40-yard TD this year where he shed multiple blocks, got to the outside, and hit the gas. His 450 yards, 6.5 ypc, and 11 TDs all point towards him being a very highly productive and reliable player for years to come.
