Lavarus is a long and lean edge prospect who has some good pass-rush ability against slower offensive tackles. He has a value-added skill as an excellent punter – something you rarely see with defensive linemen, but that ability could help him at a lower-level college football program looking to save a roster spot and some potential money within their program. If Lavarus goes to the right place, his best football could be ahead of him.

I had my eyes tuned in on Lavarus as his head coach told me at Media Day he could be a 15-sack type player this season. Lavarus showed some good speed off the edge and had 2 would be sacks – the scrimmage was blowing a quick whistle to keep quarterbacks from getting hit and possibly injured. I also thought Lavarus did a good job of setting the edge in the running game as well.
