Pennock plays corner for Severance. Measures in at 6’1 170-pounds. He had 30 total tackles (20 solo, 10 assisted), 1 TFL, 1 INT, and 1 pass deflection. He has good athletic ability due to very good speed, change of direction, good jumping, and acceleration. Pennock does a good job jamming the receiver at the line of scrimmage. Smooth back pedal while matching receivers breaking out of their stem. Pennock displays very good closing quickness and man coverage skills. Extends his arms to disrupt the passing play. Good zone coverage. Good tackling as well. I’m very intrigued to see how he does this upcoming season.

Pennock has good athletic ability due to very good speed, change of direction, good acceleration, and jumping. Good at jamming receiver at the LOS. Uses his controlled back pedal and fluid hips to match WR breaking off into their stem. Sticks to the wide receiver like glue not giving up much separation. If he does, he’ll use his very good closing quickness and good timing to create pass deflections. He has good read and reaction time with good ball instincts. With another off-season of refinement on his technique, look for Pennock to reach new heights.

A taller, rangy cornerback, Pennock has the tools to be a shutdown defender. His combination of speed and vision allows him to quickly diagnose plays, break on the ball, and contest passes. He thrives in press coverage, using his strength to disrupt routes and throw off the quarterback’s timing. His physicality extends to the run game, where he showcases strong open field tackling skills. With his ability to excel in both man and zone schemes, Pennock is a player to keep on the radar and know as we move into camp and the 7on7 circuits.
