When it comes to our run defense there are a lot of ways we can go. What I decided to go with was one of the most physical, quick triggering, downhill thumpers that WI has to offer. LaMarcus Vinson of Rufus King HS punishes RBs. He is so quick to read the run and get on his track downhill to meet the ball carrier. When he does meet the RB it always ends violently with LaMarcus running over the ball carrier. Vinson is one of the best at flying through the trenches while staying clean on his way to the ball and the way he can close so quickly and turn that speed into hit power. We need this type of run defender for our Perfect LB.

Arguably the hardest hitting defender in Wisconsin is still available to be added to a 2025 recruiting class. The 6’2″ 210 lbs MLB Lamarcus Vinson Jr. has a highlight reel loaded with jaw-dropping tackles. His closing speed and power to run through his tackles not only ends forward progression, it usually has the offensive player running backwards or leaving his feet. LaMarcus has strong instincts, moves with the flow of the play, and has the range to get to the sideline to chase down the ball off the edge. The senior has shown on his tape that he is able to play through traffic while avoiding blocks, and he is comfortable dropping into a zone. Vinson is a top uncommitted defender in WI. Stock Rise: #131 to #81
LaMarcus has put together a great HS career to this point. The 6’2″ 210 lbs LB has earned multiple All- Region honors already and an All State Honorable Mention honor. Not to mention his Defensive Player of the Year award for his conference. He has gotten around this summer and proved in front of coaches that he has the talent to play at the next level. He currently holds three offers, and I expect that number to grow as we enter the season.
I love this kid’s instincts on his highlights. In both the run and pass game we see him read and react at a high level. Plus he has the athleticism to capitalize on the things he reads. Against the run, Vinson aggressively triggers downhill and closesq quickly on the ball. The ’25 LB drops the hammer on every tackle he gets the chance to. He is able to move through the front seven without having to get off blocks. In the passing game Vinson shows the lateral movement to be able to get to a zone while reading the QB or he is able to turn and run with RBs out of the backfield. LaMarcus is a strong piece to have in the middle of a defense. Expect a big year as he and the talented Rufus King defense take the field.

Lamarcus has put together a very decorated career already. The Honorable Mention All State LB is one of the best available at his position in the state. Lamarcus is a high IQ player in the middle of the Rufus King defense. His ability to process plays as they develop is next level quality. He does a great job of flowing with the play while also attacking downhill. That leads to him making a lot of stops right at the line of scrimmage. Vinson’s range from the middle of the defense and closing speed makes him very difficult to get linemen on and his lateral agility makes him even more effective at working through the constant traffic in the front seven. The junior is an excellent tackler as well and makes sure you feel him when he wraps you up. Vinson does have the strength to take on blocks, hold his ground, shed and make the stop too. Vinson is an athlete on the rise. He holds offers from Augustana, and Concordia- St. Paul.

The rising junior out of Rufus King High School flashed throughout the WI Stock Up Showcase. Vinson, a 6’1, 206 lbs linebacker, has a rare combination of size and athleticism that jumps out when seen in-person. Vinson is freakishly athletic, as he was the top coverage linebacker at the camp. He could run with every running back he faced in 1-on-1’s, showcasing his ability to carry vertical routes and move in and out of breaks on shorter throws. He also possesses tremendous ball skills. As Vinson stock is rising, don’t be surprised if he lands at Division I school after high school.
