After beginning his high school career at Washington and spending time at Cocoa (FL), Brooks is back in West Virginia for his senior season and immediately strengthens the Cougars’ roster. He reclaimed the #1 linebacker ranking and a Top 15 overall prospect thanks to his athleticism, production, and proven ability to impact the game. While linebacker is where he’ll make his biggest difference, Brooks also has the versatility to contribute at running back if needed. Brooks had a tremendous breakout season for Washington in 2024 after showing impressive flashes as a freshman, which propelled him into the Top 5 of our 2027 rankings. He’s a very athletic middle linebacker with a ton of pass coverage production, which translates well in a camp setting. It’s always difficult to defend receivers and running backs 1-on-1 at camps, but Brooks proved he has the ability and athleticism to do so in multiple reps. Brooks’ ceiling as a prospect is extremely high, with high D1 potential if he continues to develop over the next two years.

The range and footwork he displays is absurb, he had 5 interceptions as Jefferson’s middle linebacker this past season. He really is everywhere on tape, his coverage skills makes me believe he will play safety at the next level, but time will tell.

Brooks totaled 143 tackles, 22 TFLs, 8 sacks, and 5 interceptions for the Patriots, earning the top linebacker ranking in this update. He’s a rangy, athletic linebacker, which aided in his high pass coverage production and gives him the ability to drop into deep zones and cover the middle of the field. Brooks can also get downhill to rush the passer and blow up runs in the backfield as a very versatile linebacker. He has a clear D1 future as one of the top prospects in the 2027 class.

Brooks totaled 12 tackles with 3 going for a loss including a sack. He also picked off a pass showcasing good speed and quickness when playing the run and the pass that we love seeing in a young linebacker. Brooks should continue developing this season and beyond as one of the top LB prospects in this class with early returns showing in year two for the young athlete.
