The Bolingbrook senior and Wisconsin commit has been one of the top receivers in Illinois for the Class of 2024 throughout his high school career. He’s been having a phenomenal season this go-around, gaining 224 yards and 2 touchdowns last Friday against Lincoln-Way West. The speedy wide receiver was un-guardable on deep balls, showcasing his ability to make contested catches all night. Berry Johnson has fantastic body control, as he can adjust to the ball in mid-air and secure the catch. Additionally, Berry Johnson had a big night in the screen game, often making the first, second, and third defenders miss with his shifty cuts in the open field. All-and-all, Berry Johnson is lighting it up in his final season before he heads off to Madison.

Another Wisconsin Badger commit, Bolingbrook’s 5’11, 170 lb. pass catcher Kyan Berry Johnson Kyan Berry Johnson 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Bolingbrook | 2024 State IL somehow went under the radar and under-recruited as a prospect on the recruiting trail and is one of the biggest sleepers in the B1G West’s various commitment classes. Absolute dynamite on the offensive side of the ball, Johnson owns some of the best COD skills in the entire state and is insanely twitchy and can cut on a dime after the catch as a route runner, leaving defenders frozen in their tracks, grasping at air, or sprinting by what they thought was going to be a big hit into a tunnel of open space and the faces of astounded Bolingbrook and opposition fans. The explosive burst and acceleration out of his cuts are thrilling and help him get up to speed from a dead stop in a blink of an eye. Lethal on WR screens, Johnson also demonstrates an eye-catching vertical that can float high through the air and high-point the football right on the head of outstretched DBs arms and win contested catches in highlight-esque fashion. I also like the contact balance for his size that can eat opposing hits and keep his feet like he’s 20 pounds heavier, and his fluidity, fearlessness (especially when going up for the ball), and athleticism combine for a sensational offensive weapon and junior highlight tape. The Raiders passing attack is going to be lethal in 2023.

Twitchy and sudden in his releases, at the top of the route, and after the catch as a receiver, Berry Johnson also has a magnificent third play of his junior tape where he elevates and high points a football in what looks like three or four feet off the ground and right over the top of a helpless DB for a touchdown. A downright electric athlete, Berry Johnson’s body control, balance, and COD skills makes him lethal in 1-on-1 situations all over the field, from coverage, tackling, and contested catch scenarios. What an exciting junior tape! Honestly, having only two P5 offers at this point in time is a crime.
