He also made an impact on offense at running back, finishing the season with 61 carries for 343 yards and eight touchdowns while also catching two touchdown passes. I can see some offers coming Kory’s way soon as he has received some college interest and has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.

By the time his Bobcats reached the playoffs last season, Combs had progressed well beyond his sophomore status and proved himself a reliable, resilient and essential component of his team’s success on both sides of the football. Offensively, he has proven himself not only an especially effective blocker and ball carrier in red zone and short yardage packages but also a running back capable of stressing defenses as a pass receiver. In addition to his 340 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns on 59 carries, he also pulled in 7 catches for 123 yards and another two scores, giving him an average 1 touchdown every 5 offensive touches. And quite frankly, he might project even more valuable long-term as a skilled, relentless and durable inside linebacker, where he led all Bobcat defenders with 64 solo tackles, 45 assists, 7 tackles for loss and 1 sack alongside 3 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery. At his current trajectory, Combs promises to develop into one of the best players to emerge from the proud Breathitt County program in quite some time.

In 1v1 drills, he played with a ton of physicality and showed the ability to open up and run with running backs to mirror their routes. Kory doesn’t currently hold any offers but is definitely a name to watch as he is a rising talent in the state.

Combs does a great job of timing the snap count and exploding out of his stance to shoot through the gap before opposing offensive linemen can react. Wants he shoots through the gap, he explodes through the ball carrier to secure the tackle. When the play is away from him, he flows to the ball effectively and takes great angles to get to the ball carrier. Kory also plays a key role on offense as a running back but I like what I’ve seen from him the most on defense. While he doesn’t currently hold any offers, Combs will definitely be a name to watch as he is one of the most impressive linebackers in the state.

He is coming off an impressive freshman season in which he finished with 94 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and three sacks. Against the run, Combs explodes out of his stance with zero hesitation and shoots through the gap before the offensive line can react. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he does a great job of running his feet on contact and securing the tackle. I also like Combs’ ability to flow to the ball even when there is a lot of traffic in his vision. Combs is also reliable in coverage, showing fluidity in his pass drops and the ability to make plays on the ball. Combs doesn’t hold any offers just yet but is going to be a fun player to watch over the next few seasons.
