After breaking down some high-level defensive backs, here’s my list of some impactful under the radar athletes in Kentucky to keep an eye on.
In the first place spot on my list is Korey Combs, an athlete at Breathitt County High School. In addition to outstanding size and versatility off the snap, what impresses me about Combs on the offensive end is his explosiveness on the ground, proving he can escape the pocket and barrel into the endzone. On the other side, Combs stands out with his ability to make crucial stops and apply pressure on the quarterback.
I am additionally impressed with Kaleb Cole Kaleb Cole 6’1″ | 210 lbs | ATH Newport Central Catholic | 2025 State KY , an athlete at Newport Central Catholic High School. Cole’s multi-faceted playstyle makes a huge difference. Defensively, Cole stands out with his ability to read the offense and use bursts of speed to drop playmakers from along the edge. I also like how Cole can quickly dismantle the rush in the pocket. As a running back, Cole impresses me with his ability to slip past the defense and break free into the backfield.

Claiming the number three spot on my list is Jaquon Coulter Jaquon Coulter 6’0″ | 150 lbs | ATH Taylor County | 2025 State KY , an athlete at Taylor County High School. On top of excellent versatility down the stretch, what impresses me the most about Coulter defensively is his ability to attack the ball in the air as well as pick off the quarterback in the backfield. I also like how Coulter executes in the pocket, using his quickness and relentless physicality to consistently drop the running back to the ground.

Another skilled prospect to watch for is Reece Asher Reece Asher 5’9″ | 145 lbs | ATH Seneca | 2025 KY , an athlete at Seneca High School. What stands out about Asher offensively is his execution off the snap, catching ability and ability to blast into enemy territory off the short pass. I also like Asher’s ability to create solid seperation for the deep pass. On the other side, Asher impresses me with his ability to pick off the quarterback in the endzone and pick up speed after the catch.

Coming in at number five on my list is Landon Farmer Landon Farmer 5’9″ | 145 lbs | ATH Corbin | 2026 KY , an athlete at Corbin High School. Farmer makes a considerable difference as a receiver due to his footwork and catching ability, showing off his ability to haul in the short pass and break tackles on his way to the house. I also like Farmer’s ability to quickly get open when his quarterback is under pressure. Defensively, Farmer stands out with his ability to adapt and quickly drop receivers after the catch.

Also worth mentioning is Brayden Hall Brayden Hall 5’6″ | 140 lbs | ATH Madison Southern | 2026 State KY , an athlete at Madison Southern High School. What I like about Hall is his ability to push off the defense from along the edge to haul in the deep pass and stay on his feet en route to the endzone. I also like how Hall attacks the ball in the air. Hall also proved he can be disruptive on the other side, using bursts of speed to lock down receivers in coverage. Hall also showcased his ability to dive in front of the deep pass to pick off the quarterback.
