Expert Analysis
Tyler Stevens | Prep Redzone Scout
Peterson only got one half of work this past Friday night, but he did damage to the Licking Heights defense. In 15 total touches (9 rushing, 6 receptions), he had 174 yards (105 rushing, 69 receiving) and two touchdowns. He has a very smooth running style that allows him to change direction quickly. He’s got good vision when running and can find open space. We need more reps to see from Kolton and much of the Newark starting offense, but it’s an impressive start for the Wildcats. They look to start 2-0 as they take on Mt. Vernon Friday night.

Whether it’s on special teams as a returner on special teams or from the running back position Peterson has shown the ability to be a playmaker. The first thing that flashes when you watch the film is his ability to make guys miss. He has the ability to start and stop on a dime even from full speed. He’s a really tough tackle in the open field. He runs with great balance as he takes contact, he’s able to stay on his feet and keep going. As he continues to get bigger and stronger he’s going to be able to add another dimension to his game.

Good running back who can be a dual threat in the run game and as a receiver. Displays soft hands and ability to quickly tuck, turn and get vertical. Good size and frame. #1 sophomore in Division I rushing in the state.
