Dietrich measures in at 5’11 175-pounds. He accounted for 142/256 on 2057 yards with a 55.5% completion rate with 14 TDs and 13 INT, 39 carries for 207 yards and 2 touchdowns. Dietrich’s playstyle reminds me a lot of Kyler Murray. He has very good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, speed, change of direction, and good balance. Dietrich is an electric runner. He has very good throw power, and a fast release with no wasted motion. In the pocket, he goes through his progressions and stays poised under pressure. Koa will scramble out of the pocket, and will still be looking for open receivers. He can make some crazy off-script throws, looks like he’s playing backyard football. He made a crazy across the body throw, threading the needle, while walking backwards. Very good throw on the run. Koa makes it look effortless and easy. He has the intangibles to become a top tier QB, and I was very impressed with his film. Keep an eye out for him next year, where I believe he will develop further as a passer, making him an exciting MUST watch prospect.

. A freshman starting QB is impressive, and he didn’t disappoint. He led all freshmen in passing yards and touchdowns. Throughout the season he threw for 2207 yards, 22 TD, 7 INT, and 57.3% completion rate. While on the ground he ran 45 times for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns. Dietrich has a quick snappy release in combination with a very strong arm making him a formidable opponent. He has good accuracy at all three levels; however, his deep ball stands out to me the most. He can fit the ball in tight pockets. Good ball placement skills. He will throw on the money, above, below or in stride with his wide receiver. Dietrich is very accurate while throwing on the run. When he rolls out left, he stays accurate on the run as well. Dietrich showed good mental processing by going through his reads and choosing the open man. Good pocket presence. He achieves this by being shifty and utilizing good footwork. He keeps his shoulders parallel with his feet to achieve a quick throwing motion. He will also step up in the pocket, while keeping his eyes downfield under pressure. Dietrich has very good athletic ability as well. He uses his very good speed and acceleration to roll out of the pocket and thrash the defense on the ground. Koa is an exciting prospect who will continue developing his skills into a top QB in Colorado’s future.

Dietrich has been looking good with his timing being able to hit his receivers as they are coming out of cuts and letting them make things happen after the catch. He has a strong arm and when he drives off of his back leg he is able to get it to the receivers quickly. He shows some poise in the pocket and will climb the pocket, keeping his eyes downfield. With the weapons he has around him, he will be a player to keep an eye on to see if he can get his team on track moving forward.
